BAHIA, BRAZIL – JUNE 11, 2025 At kilometer 830 on BR-101, between the cities of Itamaraju and Teixeira de Freitas, a tragic traffic accident occurred. Former councilman Ivan Oliveira Lacerda, 71, and his 44-year-old son Israel Sena de Lacerda died in the crash.
According to all available information, one vehicle lost control, crossed into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. Both cars were thrown to the side of the road by the impact. Ivan and Israel died at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle sustained only minor injuries.
Van Lacerda was a well-known figure in the Jucuruçu region, where he served as a councilman and ran for mayor. Besides his political career, he owned the jewelry store Ita Joias in Teixeira de Freitas.
