BINTAN, RIAU ISLANDS, INDONESIA – JUNE 26, 2025 Fatal traffic accident between two trucks occurred at the entrance to the PT Bintan Alumina Indonesia facility in the Galang Batang area. A Mitsubishi truck (license plate BP 8499 BU) driven by a 25-year-old identified only by the initials MK began swerving uncontrollably and veered into oncoming traffic. A 31-year-old man, IP, driving a Toyota Dyna Rino (BP 8159 TU), had no chance to avoid the crash, and the two vehicles collided head-on.
MK, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown through the windshield by the force of the impact. The asphalt tore his body, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. IP and several injured bystanders were transported to RSUP Raja Ahmad Tabib Hospital in the city of Tanjungpinang. Because he was wearing a seatbelt, IP only suffered minor injuries to his shoulder and back.
This tragic case is a grim reminder of how crucial seatbelt use is. In many accidents, it can mean the difference between life and death.
