SALVADOR, BAHIA, BRAZIL – APRIL 29, 2025 Man identified as Romário Silva Santos was brutally executed in the middle of Largo do Juliano street in the Narandiba district. The incident occurred just a few dozen meters from a police station.
According to all available information, the victim was going to buy groceries at a local convenience store. However, he was followed by armed men who ambushed and killed him with more than 50 gunshots, as counted during the autopsy.
Although the motive for the crime has not been officially investigated, it is believed that members of the notorious criminal group Comando Vermelho (CV), which operates in the area, are behind the murder. Romário had no direct involvement in drug trafficking but was a drug user. He worked as a laborer at a local scrap metal yard. Neighbors described him as a decent man.
