BARRANQUILLA, ATLÁNTICO, COLOMBIA – JULY 9, 2025 27-year-old Adaluz Pérez Santana was shot by an armed attacker inside the restaurant “Arroz Paisa,” where she worked as a cashier. The assailant approached the counter, pulled out a gun, shot her in the head without hesitation, and fled the scene. The incident occurred in the La Paz neighborhood at the corner of Carrera 13 and Calle 109.

Bystanders rushed the severely injured Adaluz to La Manga hospital, from where she was transferred to the Adelita de Char clinic, where she was hospitalized in critical condition. Despite the doctors’ best efforts, she unfortunately died.
It later emerged that the restaurant had been targeted by an extortionate criminal group. The owners refused to pay protection money, which was the main motive behind the attack.
