SYRIA When the Assad regime fell in Syria, several rebel factions, including HTS (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham), came to power. The USA and the EU consider HTS a terrorist organization. In fact, they originated as an offshoot of the notorious Al-Qaeda. Despite this, when they took power, they promised to distance themselves from their radical past and try to win the favor of the local population.
It seems they have failed to keep those promises. Videos like this, showing HTS members executing civilians or massacring ethnic or religious minorities, have been appearing frequently online lately. Some opinions say Syria is heading toward another civil war.
