CHORRILLOS, LIMA, PERU – MAY 6, 2026 Henry Tirado Salazar, known by the nickname ‘Sapo’, was shot inside an auto repair shop. According to police, he was allegedly one of the leaders of the criminal organization ‘Los Mexicanos’, which authorities link to extortion, protection rackets, and contract killings in southern Lima.
The attack occurred at around 2:00 p.m. near Morro Solar. According to preliminary information, Tirado was at the shop after bringing his vehicle there for repairs. Two attackers arrived on a motorcycle, and one of them got off, entered the shop, and fired several shots at Tirado from close range. Witnesses said approximately six to eight shots were heard. The shooter then left the scene on foot while his accomplice waited on the motorcycle. After the attack, footage showing the killing from the shooter’s POV also circulated online.
Tirado had already been arrested by police in November 2024 along with 18 other people during an operation in Villa El Salvador. Police claimed at the time that the group was attempting to seize a piece of land, and five of those arrested were allegedly members of ‘Los Mexicanos’. Tirado was also linked to an investigation into extortion and attacks against transportation companies.
