MEXICO CITY, MEXICO – OCTOBER 12, 2025 In the Tlaltenco district in the borough of Tláhuac in Mexico City, a fatal armed attack occurred during a patron saint festival, which claimed at least three dead and several others seriously injured. The event took place directly during a local fiesta, which is a traditional part of celebrations in this area, where people gather in public spaces, often in large numbers and without significant security arrangements.
According to available reports, armed attackers arrived at the scene and began shooting into the crowd. The attack caused panic among the participants of the celebration and people tried to flee or hide in the chaos. Several victims were left at the scene, while other injured people were transported to hospitals in critical condition. The latest reports mention 3 dead and 3 injured.
The motive of the attack has not yet been officially confirmed. Similar violent incidents in some parts of Mexico City and its peripheral districts are often associated, however, with local crime, disputes between groups, or organized crime, which in some regions of Mexico has long influenced the safety of public events.
