JARAMIJÓ, MANABÍ, ECUADOR – MARCH 14, 2026 Group of hitmen carried out an attack in the courtyard of a family home in the Eloy Alfaro neighborhood. At that time, several people were there, relaxing and playing cards, and one of them was in a hammock.
While some sources claim the attack was directed at everyone present, others say it was only against the man in the hammock, 54-year-old Hugo Vicente. He was the only one who died from his injuries. Besides him, a married couple was wounded during the frantic shooting.
Police are currently investigating the incident and trying to apprehend the perpetrators and determine their motive. It likely relates to drug trafficking. Jaramijó is considered one of the conflict-prone cantons in the province, where drug-related murders are a common occurrence.
