Assassination of van driver

VENTANILLA, CALLAO, PERU – FEBRUARY 25, 2026 39-year-old van driver, Joel Capa Espinoza, whose vehicle functions as a means of mass transit, became a victim of a contract killing. While he was waiting for passengers at one of the stops, two hitmen approached him. While one filmed the action on video, the other killed him with several shots.

One of the hitmen clearly says in the video that they are from the ‘Los Mexicanos’ gang. Everything indicates that it was a bloody message as part of a settling of scores or the result of unpaid protection money, which local gangs often extort from drivers.
