GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE Karina Ariev is an Israeli soldier who became one of the hostages of Hamas during the attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023. At that time, she was serving as an observer in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at the Nahal Oz military base near the border with the Gaza Strip.
