COLOMBIA Man went into the night jungle for the purpose of hunting the lowland paca. However, he encountered a jaguar that attacked him and caused him life-threatening injuries. The feline bit and scratched him on practically every part of his body. His colleagues filmed an aftermath video. Updates on his medical condition are not known.
The lowland paca is considered the queen of rainforest meat. Its meat is incredibly tender and fatty, often compared to pork, and commands a high price on the black market or in luxury restaurants. Its hunting takes place after dark in the jungle. It is usually done in groups and requires deep knowledge of navigation, tracking, etc.
If you ever encounter a jaguar in the wild, the most important thing is to stay calm – fleeing can activate the animal’s hunting instinct. Try to optically increase your volume, for example, by raising your arms above your head. If an attack occurs anyway, use everything you have at hand to defend yourself – try to hit the animal in sensitive areas like the eyes or snout.
