ASTRAKHAN, RUSSIA – FEBRUARY 24, 2022 Residents of the small town of Astrakhan were shocked by the discovery of a dead girl’s body in the river. It was clear at first sight that she had been the victim of a violent act. Her hands were tied behind her back. Police investigators managed to confirm her identity. She was only 14-year-old schoolgirl Anastasia Fokina, who lived about 50 km from the place of the discovery. Forensic examination revealed that she had been strangled and raped. The rapist then threw her body into the river.

Thanks to the initiative of local residents, several good witness statements were obtained, which led them to the trail of the taxi driver with whom the girl was last seen. He was arrested and confessed to her murder and rape.
