GRADAČAC, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA – AUGUST 11, 2023 Nermin Sulejmanović, 35, posted a video on Instagram telling viewers to watch his livestream of the murder. A few hours later he started broadcasting. On the livestream was his beaten ex-wife, Nizama Hećimović, whom he shot in the head with a pistol in cold blood. A child can be heard crying in the background of the video. He then fled the scene.

When he was on the run and already very intensively searched for by the police, Nermin started another live stream in which he announced to the viewers that he had killed two more people. The two were later identified as a man and his son. Nermin then committed suicide.

Bosnian authorities said more than 12,000 people watched the live streams. People who clicked on the heart icons, encouraging Instagram’s algorithm to recommend the stream further, could face criminal charges.
