BANGKOK, THAILAND – NOVEMBER, 2014 A 52-year-old tourist from Great Britain, Shane Kenneth Looker, murdered a 27-year-old Thai sex worker, Laxami Manochat, in his hotel room. He then put her body to sleep in a suitcase and threw it into the Mae Klong River in Kanchanaburi town. Her remains were found a few days later.

It is not entirely clear what led the man to the crime. The man fled as far as Spain to the island of Ibiza, where he was arrested and deported to Thailand on the basis of an international arrest warrant. There he heard the sentence of 8 years in prison and the payment of compensation in the amount of 300 thousand dollars.
