BRAZIL Man violated rules set by a gang in the favela. The gang then enforced those rules and punished him in a very brutal way. They dragged him to a remote place, where they broke all of his limbs.
Favelas are poor areas in Brazilian cities. They are usually located on hillsides and have a high population density. These areas are typically controlled by gangs, and the police usually have no access there except during major raids. Because of this, the country’s laws often do not apply, and the gang sets its own rules and usually also enforces them. Punishments are often physical and can include executions. The gangs do not do this because they care about the people, but because they want to keep order in the favela and avoid drawing attention so they can comfortably run their drug business.
