MAZATLÁN, SINALOA, MEXICO Men belonging to the Mayo Zetas/Cabreras faction were sent to the Havar area north of Mazatlan to attempt to infiltrate local security forces. However, their presence was discovered by the rival Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), and they were kidnapped.

Video of the brutal execution of one of them later appeared online. Cartel members cut off his limbs alive using machetes while he suffers in horrific pain. A threatening message was left at the scene, warning against any cooperation with the enemy. The message also includes the names of other captives who will allegedly be next.
The incident is a brutal reminder of the danger and brutality of drug cartels, gangs, and similar criminal organizations. To these people, the value of a human life is, at most, determined by how useful that person is to the cartel. It is also another reason to say no to drugs.
