SAN MIGUEL, LIMA, PERU – JULY 18, 2025 43-year-old Nilton Monje died after being shot inside his butcher shop at the El Pacífico market in the San Miguel district. While standing behind the counter, an armed man stormed in and fatally shot him multiple times.
Nilton Monje was known as a cheerful person and a lover of travel. According to his family and friends, he always earned an honest living and had no known enemies.
Police suspect that his murder may be connected to extortion. Unfortunately, many extortionist groups are still active in Lima, often targeting small, honest business owners. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed.
