BARRANQUILLA, ATLÁNTICO, COLOMBIA – AUGUST 21, 2026 In the morning, a targeted shooting took place at the Fedecafé shopping center in central Barranquilla, in which 35 to 36-year-old businessman Leynner Alexander Legarda Omar, known by the nickname “Timbalero,” was killed. Sources differ on his age, with most local media outlets reporting that he was 35. Legarda Omar worked at the shopping center selling and repairing mobile phones and accessories.

According to police information, the perpetrator arrived at the scene on foot and headed directly toward Legarda Omar. As soon as he approached him, he fired several shots at him. A security camera captured the attack, and the footage subsequently began circulating on social media. According to local media, the shooter struck the victim, among other places, in the head.
After the attack, the perpetrator fled the shopping center on foot. Police, however, quickly responded to his escape and managed to apprehend him not far from the crime scene. According to some reports, he attempted to hide in a building under construction during his escape, where police subsequently tracked him down.
The arrested man was identified as Jair De Jesús Anaya De la Hoz, a 27-year-old man known by the nickname “El Animal.” According to available information, police found a handgun, two rounds of ammunition, and a suppressor on him. Anaya De la Hoz also reportedly had two previous records related to theft.
Investigators are now working to determine the motive for the murder. One of the main investigative theories is a conflict between criminal groups. According to police, Legarda Omar was reportedly the brother of Diego Martínez Omar, known as “El Turco,” who is described as an alleged regional representative of the organized crime group Los Costeños.
