EL PETÉN, GUATEMALA Near a village close to the Mexican border, the dead body of a man was found. He was later identified as 37-year-old Oscar Ron. He had been butchered in a horrific manner – several of his limbs were severed, his heart was ripped out, and his penis was cut off. A cardboard sign with the signature of the CJNG drug cartel was found next to the body.
The incident serves as a reminder of how dangerous any involvement with drug cartels, gangs, or other criminal organizations can be. Human life holds almost no value for these people – at most, only as much as a person contributes to their organization.
