BOGOTA, COLOMBIA – FEBRUARY 21, 2024 Hernán Roberto Franco Charry, a Colombian businessman and auditor, was murdered near Parque de la 93. He was attacked by a gunman as he arrived at his office, suffering fatal injuries.
Jean Karlo Bermúdez Camargo, a 25-year-old former soldier, was identified as the getaway motorcycle driver. His escape attempt failed when the motorcycle malfunctioned, allowing security forces to arrest him on the spot.
Investigators discovered that Franco Charry had planned to report financial irregularities in a private company, which may have been the motive behind his murder. Bermúdez Camargo admitted his involvement and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for homicide and related charges.
