MEDELLÍN, COLOMBIA – MARCH 19, 1993 Mario Alberto Castaño Molina, nicknamed “El Chopo”, was one of the highest ranking members of the infamous Medellín Cartel led by Pablo Escobar. He was known for his loyalty, and figured in the cartel as the head of security for Escobar himself. He has been involved in several attacks and is responsible for approximately 200 deaths.
He was shot dead by police when a detainee, Juan Carlos Londoño, revealed his exact location. He was hit a total of 48 times.
