CHHATTISGARH, INDIA – JANUARY 18, 2025 Daro, 45, and his father, Shankar, 65, were together in the forest in the Kanker area when they were attacked by an aggressive bear. It mauled Daro to death right in front of his father, who managed to escape.
Shankar later went to the forest again with a group of his friends to retrieve the body of his dead son. To everyone’s surprise, the bear was still there and did not hesitate to attack again. This time it attacked Shankar and tore him to death in front of his friends.
In addition, the bear also injured 50-year-old Yadav, who works as a forest guard. This happened when he tried to save Shankar’s life and chase the beast away.
The Indian Forest and Wildlife Department said that they are gearing up to capture the bear. They also said that this case is very exceptional as bears usually don’t come this close to a group of people. They strongly suspect that the bear is infected with rabies, which may have caused its strange behavior.
