NOVA IGUAÇU, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – AUGUST 15, 2024 Corpse of a man identified as “Lobão” was found in the Campo Belo neighbourhood. He had his head cut off from his body, was naked and dumped by the side of the road. It was also found that he had been cruelly tortured before his death, as the skin had been completely removed from his head.

Lobão had worked as a militiaman in one of the local favelas. Militiamen are usually police officers or members of the security forces who operate in the favelas and their aim is to protect the residents from drug gangs.
