CALDAS NOVAS, GOIÁS, BRAZIL – JANUARY 28, 2018 Núbia Fernandes was found hanging in her house from a ceiling beam. Before her death, she called her boyfriend upset, apparently to say goodbye to him. He stated that Núbia was being treated for severe depression and was even taking medication for it. On the day of her suicide, she reportedly returned drunk from some fair.

The combination of depression with the use of antidepressants and alcohol is very risky. Alcohol can not only weaken the effectiveness of the medication but also worsen mood and increase the risk of serious psychological complications, including a higher risk of suicide. It is therefore important to avoid this combination and to consult treatment with a doctor.
