ARMAÇÃO DOS BÚZIOS, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – JULY 23, 2025 Búzios is a peaceful beach town where many Brazilians go to relax and unwind. That made the discovery of a tortured and mutilated corpse dumped along the Estrada da Bahia Formosa all the more shocking.
The victim was male and had sustained more than 50 stab wounds. There were also deep slashing wounds – likely from a machete – on the back of the head, so severe that they exposed brain tissue. The body showed signs of burning and brutal torture. Forensic experts even determined that the man was set on fire while still alive. Police described the crime scene as one of the most horrific they had ever encountered in the city.
The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed. Civil police have launched an investigation to determine who the man was, who killed him, and why. Based on the extreme level of violence, authorities suspect it was a settling of scores linked to organized crime.
