MANAUS, AMAZONAS, BRAZIL – NOVEMBER 28, 2025 In a wooded area between the São Jorge and Santo Antônio neighborhoods in the western part of Manaus, the dead body of a man was found. He was hanging upside down from a tree. His body had numerous wounds caused by stabbing or cutting weapons, including an open abdominal cavity.
Forensic experts called to the scene confirmed that the brutality of the murder was abnormal. They did not find any injuries consistent with defensive actions, which suggests he was caught by surprise by his killer. Later, they managed to identify the victim as 37-year-old Cleverson Tavares.
An intensive police investigation is currently underway to identify the perpetrator. The investigation is focusing on the local homeless and drug-using community. The area where the body was found is notorious for being frequented by these groups.
