KOTA KINABALU, SABAH, MALAYSIA – FEBRUARY 11, 2026 Malaysian state of Sabah was shaken by a brutal crime when municipal workers discovered human remains in the Indah Permai housing estate during their morning trash collection. A subsequent police search led to the discovery of the victim’s head and torso in bushes near a nearby river. The victim was identified as a 44-year-old woman.
Police identified her 71-year-old former fiancé as the main suspect. The motive for the crime was allegedly financial disputes and resentment – the woman had reportedly spent approximately 7,000 RM (about 1,950 USD) of his savings during their relationship, then broke off the engagement and married another man. Despite this, they remained in contact. The suspect allegedly lured her to his house, where he murdered her with a machete and subsequently dismembered her. On February 12, both he and his son, who was present in the house at the time of the crime, were arrested.
