ISTANBUL, TURKEY – JUNE 24, 2026 In the Kartal district, a tragic dispute occurred between an apartment owner and his tenant, which ended in death. Tension had existed between the two men for a longer period due to problems related to rent, until their conflict escalated into a violent argument.
During the heated dispute, the tenant pulled out a knife and stabbed the apartment owner, 61-year-old Niyazi Tanyeli, several times, mainly in the chest area. The severely injured man collapsed to the ground after the attack and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Despite the doctors’ efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. The attacker fled the scene, but police captured and detained him shortly afterward. According to neighbors, conflicts in the building were not unusual, and the suspect’s problematic behavior had already been known earlier.
