BARCELONA, ANZOÁTEGUI, VENEZUELA – OCTOBER 19, 2008 At around 2am, in the suburb of Colinas del Neveri, neighbours heard gunshots and alerted the police. A few hours later, the body of a young woman was found lying face down on the road. She was identified as 24-year-old Maribel Rosalía Alfonso.

She was the girlfriend of a local drug baron. He was reportedly very jealous and got hold of a photo of her exposing her breasts in the presence of another man. But he was never able to prove the murder.

According to several of Maribel’s associates, she sold marijuana and moonlighted as a prostitute. So the murder may have been related to other shady people she surrounded herself with.
