PATASHPUR, WEST BENGAL, INDIA – FEBRUARY, 2024 A horrifying sight was presented to Patashpur residents when they saw their 40-year-old neighbour Gautam Guchait walking down the street with the severed head of his younger wife Phulrani Guchait. Police immediately reached the spot and arrested him. When they came to search his property, they found the headless body of his wife.
His motive is not known. Some neighbours said they heard the couple arguing loudly. Others said they thought Guatam was a mentally ill person. The fact that he was arrested by the police in 2021 for breaking into the lion cage of the Kolkata zoo would suggest this.
