LAURO DE FREITAS, BAHIA, BRAZIL – AUGUST 19, 2025 38-year-old Ramon de Jesus Guedes put on a horrifying scene for all his neighbors. On the balcony of his apartment in the Granville das Artes complex, he bludgeoned his wife to death. Shocked neighbors could only watch the murder unfold and hear her desperate screams. Some reportedly tried to break down the apartment door to help, but all efforts failed.
Shortly after the attack, Ramon attempted to escape by climbing down the balconies, but on the last one, he stumbled and fell. After hitting the ground, he pretended to be dead to avoid arrest and try to flee unnoticed. However, people were not fooled. He was apprehended and is currently awaiting trial.
The victim, identified as 37-year-old Laina Santana Costa Guedes, was still alive when rescuers arrived – though critically injured. She was transported to Menandro de Farias hospital, where she shortly thereafter succumbed to her injuries.

Shockingly, two young daughters of the couple, aged 5 and 12, were present during the attack. The older daughter even tried to shield her mother with her own body and was injured in the process. The extent of her injuries is unknown, but she is reportedly out of life-threatening danger.
Witnesses and the perpetrator later revealed the motive. The couple had been in a heated argument over jealousy. Ramon was convinced that Laina was cheating on him and having sexual relationships with other men. He even claimed to have seen her with another man in a car when he returned home earlier than usual.
