CHINA – OCTOBER 21, 2025 15-year-old girl posted a strange video on her TikTok account that hinted at what she was planning to do soon. She stood on the roof of a tall building, pointing the camera downward. None of her followers understood the message correctly or took it seriously enough to intervene and dissuade her from her desperate act.

That same day, she began a live stream on her TikTok account. Again, she stood on the roof of a tall building, and the song “Join Me in Death” by HIM played in the background. Within moments, in front of 13 viewers, she climbed over the railing and plunged to her certain death.
The victim was known for her extravagant clothing style known as EMO. She often shared depressive content on her social media. She was also a big fan of true crime. Reportedly, she admired a 17-year-old girl who murdered her 8-year-old neighbor.
The incident highlights the importance of mental health and not being passive toward those around us. Most people who commit suicide and do not act impulsively show subtle signs and behavioral changes before taking action. Let’s keep our eyes open and offer people the help they deserve. In this case, her depressive posts on social media and her EMO style, which is closely associated with suicide, could have been warning signs.
