TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS – FEBRUARY 5, 2026 23-year-old electrician Wilmer Ernesto Rodríguez died after being struck by electricity while attempting to repair a power line in the Cerro Grande neighborhood, Zone 2. Rodríguez was working near trees on an electric pole, and preliminary information suggests that contact with the current may have been caused by strong winds.
His relatives, devastated by the tragedy, arrived at the scene, and the fire department removed the body from the ladder. The body was subsequently handed over to the Center for Forensic Medicine and Sciences for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
