AWHUM, ENUGU, NIGERIA – FEBRUARY 17, 2026 In the Awhum community, during a severe storm, a massive historical tree collapsed directly onto two parked vehicles – a fully occupied 18-seater bus and a Sienna passenger car. The incident happened in the evening hours, at approximately 8:45 PM, when the drivers stopped to let passengers disembark. The fall of the massive trunk killed 11 people on the spot and seriously injured four others. Local authorities confirmed that the cause was a combination of adverse weather and the poor condition of the old tree.
