UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA – MAY 26, 2026 Brutal traffic accident shook the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh after a double-decker bus operated by Saumya Singh Travels overturned on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway. The vehicle was traveling from Delhi to Bihar and was carrying dozens of passengers at the time of the accident.
The tragedy occurred early in the morning near the village of Nibha Kheda in Unnao district. According to the preliminary investigation, the driver apparently lost control of the bus after falling asleep at the wheel. Witnesses stated that the bus was traveling at high speed, struck the central divider, and then overturned. Part of the vehicle remained lodged on the guardrails, and several passengers were thrown out through the windows after the impact.
At least six people were killed in the accident, and more than twenty others were injured. Among the victims were a police sub-inspector from Bihar and a prisoner whom officers were transporting back after a court hearing. Some of the injured remained trapped inside the overturned bus and had to be rescued by emergency responders using specialized equipment.
Dozens of police officers, paramedics, and rescue teams immediately arrived at the scene. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals, while the most serious cases were taken to a trauma center in Lucknow. Authorities subsequently launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
