BRAZIL An impatient pedestrian didn’t wait for the green light at a crosswalk. He rushed into the street and stepped directly into the path of a moving police motorcycle. The officer struck him, killing him instantly. The policeman fell off the bike and later died in the hospital from his injuries.
Incidents like this are a harsh reminder that traffic rules exist for a reason. Pedestrians sometimes feel they aren’t affected if they don’t have a driver’s license, but the fact is they are road users too, and a single mistake can endanger not only themselves but others as well.
