LIPA CITY, BATANGAS, PHILIPPINES – AUGUST 25, 2025 On the Lipa-Tiaong road, in the Barangay Banay-Banay area, there was a tragic collision between a pedestrian and a truck. The man was trying to cross the busy street at a crosswalk. In the chaotic traffic situation, however, he failed to notice an oncoming truck and stepped directly into its path. The consequences were fatal – he was crushed and literally split in half. His lower half remained on the crosswalk, while the upper half was dragged several feet by the truck.

The victim was identified as a bank employee. He was probably hurrying to work that morning. Police have launched an investigation into the accident and are collecting evidence to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. No further details about the truck driver’s identity or legal status have been released.
This incident once again highlights the importance of following traffic rules. It also raises questions about pedestrian safety, not only in the Philippines but in many other Asian countries where pedestrians have virtually no right of way.
