LAKE KIVU, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO – OCTOBER 3, 2024 The video shows the aftermath of a horrific accident that took place on Lake Kivu, about 100 metres from the shore near Goma in East Kivu region.
The ship carrying the passengers was obviously very overloaded. Suddenly she started to lean to one side and roll over. According to some information, the ship was designed for a maximum of 80 passengers, but in reality there were more than 200.
To date, 23 deaths have been confirmed. Dozens of people are still missing, so there may be more to come.
