PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN, PHILIPPINES – FEBRUARY 18, 2026 Joanna Jonson-Infante, the former acting manager of Puerto Princesa International Airport, who served as a regional human resources manager until her death, was assassinated in cold blood in the middle of the street. The incident occurred just a few feet from a church in Barangay San Pedro.

On the CCTV footage, the attacker can be seen following her. At the moment Joanna passes by parked cars, he draws a weapon and shoots her in the back. While she fell critically wounded to the ground, the attacker disappeared from the scene.
Firefighters were the first to arrive at the scene to the injured Joanna. They secured her transport to the hospital, where she was taken while fully conscious. Despite all the efforts of the doctors, she later lost her fight for her life that same day.
The identity of the shooter and his motive remain a mystery and the subject of a police investigation. Some speculations claim that she became a target of the attack because she discovered some financial irregularities in an agency.
