SOUTHPORT, UNITED KINGDOM – JULY 29, 2024 Southport Stabbing occurred at Hart Space dance studio in Southport, where seventeen-year-old Axel Rudakubana fatally stabbed three young girls and injured ten others, including eight children. The victims were six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar.

Rudakubana, the son of Rwandan immigrants born in Cardiff, had a history of behavioral issues and had previously been expelled from school for carrying a knife. Investigations revealed he had planned a mass killing, with materials for making ricin, extremist documents, and other weapons found in his home.

Upon his arrest, Rudakubana showed no remorse, expressing satisfaction with his actions. He was charged with the murders of three girls, ten counts of attempted murder, possession of terrorist materials, and manufacturing ricin. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 52 years.
The attack caused widespread outrage across the country and sparked public unrest, fueled by misinformation about Rudakubana’s identity. Public inquiries were subsequently launched to determine how such a tragedy could occur and what measures should be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
