UKRAINE Video documents a probable war crime that occurred during the fighting in Ukraine. Someone, likely Ukrainian soldiers, cut off the heads of four Russian soldiers and placed them on stakes. It is unclear whether the decapitations occurred after their deaths or whether they were executed in this manner.
In both cases, it would constitute a violation of the Geneva Conventions. They prohibit the execution of prisoners of war and soldiers who are unable to fight. They also prohibit disrespectful treatment of their bodies.
