JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN, INDIA Nine-year-old girl, a fourth-grade student at Neerja Modi School, decided to take her own life. She jumped from the fourth floor. Her final moments were captured on a security camera.
The victim was taken to Metro Mass Hospital after the fall. Unfortunately, despite the doctors’ best efforts, she was pronounced dead.
The incident highlights the importance of mental health even in children and young adolescents. From an adult perspective, their problems may seem small or trivial, which can lead us to overlook or dismiss them. But from the viewpoint of a young person, these issues can feel far larger than we can imagine.
If you’re thinking about suicide, please stop and recognize that your pain is not permanent, but this step would be. It may feel like there’s no other way, but there is hope, even if it’s hard to see right now. Your feelings are temporary, and with help, they can pass.
