BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA – OCTOBER 8, 2026 Nightclub security guard was shot dead outside the establishment just moments after receiving a extortion note allegedly linked to the Los Satanás gang. According to media reports, the victim was Ricardo López, whose age varies across sources, ranging from 50 to 59.
The extortion note
According to published information, two men arrived outside the establishment on a motorcycle in the Engativá district. One of them handed the security guard a threatening leaflet and then shot him. The other reportedly filmed the attack. Both men then fled the scene.
The nightclub owner stated that he had been facing extortion since December 2025. The perpetrators allegedly initially demanded 40 million Colombian pesos ($12,500) and later increased the amount to 60 million pesos ($18,700). Whether the murder was directly connected to this extortion and whether the Los Satanás gang was indeed behind the attack remain under investigation.
