LA ROMANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – OCTOBER, 2011 Cristóbal Ramírez Jiménez, 40, was cleaning his 9 mm pistol when it accidentally discharged and hit his 22-year-old niece, Sharlene Jiménez. The bullet hit her right shoulder and went through her chest.
Cristóbal immediately called an ambulance to the scene. Unfortunately, her life could not be saved. But she was pregnant and the doctors saved her unborn child, who was then placed in an incubator.
