ALMATY, KAZAKHSTAN – AUGUST 25, 2025 Guy resorted to a desperate act right at the airport in the Kazakh capital. In terminal T-1, in front of the travel agency counter of the company Nur Ai & Co., he poured flammable liquid over himself and set himself on fire.
Fortunately, many security guards and police officers were present at the scene. They managed to extinguish the fire relatively quickly using fire extinguishers. Nevertheless, the victim suffered extensive burns and is currently fighting for his life in the intensive care unit of City Clinical Hospital No. 4.
Witnesses to the incident stated that before the act, the man had a heated phone argument, most likely with his wife. The impulsive decision triggered by the emotional outburst from that quarrel was probably his main motive. However, the police will also investigate the call itself and his wife, in order to rule out whether she encouraged him to commit suicide or was abusing him.
Interestingly, although the incident happened at the airport, it was discovered that the man was not traveling anywhere, since he had no purchased ticket. He was not an employee of any of the companies operating at the airport either.
