MOMBASA, KENYA – AUGUST 8, 2023 The 28-year-old engineering student, who has been identified as Robert Kioko, decided to protest against the high cost of living in Kenya. He climbed a statue of Jomo Kenyatta at the roundabout and set himself on fire. He survived but suffered many painful burns all over his body.
