ST. JOHN’S, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR, CANADA – MARCH 20, 2026 Man suffered a nasty hand injury while handling a kitchen knife during routine use. Due to deep lacerations on three fingers of his right hand, he had to seek medical treatment.
When using a kitchen knife, always use a stable cutting board and hold ingredients so that your fingers are tucked in and bent inward toward your palm. Cut with smooth motions away from your body and do not rush, especially when slicing harder foods. The knife should be sharp, as dull blades require more force and increase the risk of slipping. Keep the work area clean and place the knife in a safe location away from the edge of the countertop after use.
