FEIRA DE SANTANA, BAHIA, BRAZIL – FEBRUARY 20, 2026 The rural area of Maria Quitéria near the Brazilian city of Feira de Santana was shaken by the brutal murder of thirty-year-old Laiane Nascimento Rodrigues. The main suspect is her eighteen-year-old partner Rian Deivison da Silva Santos, who literally smashed the woman’s head with a stone on the Estrada do Calango road.

According to investigator Gustavo Coutinho, the tragedy was preceded by alcohol consumption and a subsequent violent argument, during which the young man decided on a brutal attack. The couple had been in a relationship for about two years, and police confirmed it was not the first manifestation of violence; the suspect had previously been detained for assaulting the same woman in Salvador and allegedly suffers from a mental disorder.
After the crime, the young man confided in his mother, and together they took a bus to the police station to turn himself in. However, during the ride, he began talking about the murder so loudly that other passengers alerted the police, who surrounded the bus directly at the terminal.
The young man confessed to the crime, claiming the motive was his partner’s infidelity. The case is now being investigated as femicide, and the victim’s body was taken for a forensic autopsy, while the investigation of the entire incident continues.
