HATO MAYOR DEL REY, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – JANUARY 1, 2025 When Antoniri Mota Trinidad walked through the Gualey neighbourhood and saw a bunch of troublemakers attacking a disabled man, he acted like a true hero. He stood up for him and stood alone against the odds. As the argument escalated, he pulled out a glass bottle to defend himself. But this provoked the aggressors to attack. They snatched the bottle from his hand and used it against him. They beat him to a critical and life-threatening state.

As Antoniri lay on the ground, with no strength left to defend himself, one of the group of aggressors pulled out a pistol and began firing it into the air, attacking witnesses. They threatened to shoot them if they reported anything to the police.
Antoniri was taken to the Hospital Regional Doctor Antonio Musa where doctors successfully fought for his life. He survived and will not have any lasting effects. However, he is still in the process of recovery and will take several months to fully recover.
