BERLIN, GERMANY, 1903 Historic video shows the amputation of a lower limb below the knee. It was filmed to educate young medics. The amputation is performed by Prof. Dr. E. von Bergmann of the University Surgical Clinic on Ziegelstrasse. The cameras brought a complete revolution to medical science, as they made it possible to see real footage. Previously, medics and doctors only had to learn by doing or from illustrations in books.
